At The Roig Academy, we empower, nurture, and promote student achievement in a learning environment where children feel comfortable taking risks in order to inquire, explore and reflect upon their learning. The Roig approach; Reflect, Observe, Inquire and Grow (ROIG), encourages our students to develop the necessary skills that allow them to be successful learners in our global community. Through the facilitation of this approach, our students are able to grow both personally and socially, developing 21st century skills such as collaboration, cooperation, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and creative and critical thinking.
Our approach is unique in its commitment to bringing a global emphasis to our core curriculum and developing a strong community of learners that value lifelong learning. At The Roig Academy, our staff teach to the whole child by engaging in ongoing teacher collaboration and use differentiated instructional techniques that are supported by current and best practices in teaching and learning. These various teaching strategies allow us to foster the development of the whole child encompassing social, physical, emotional and cultural needs as well as academic welfare.

Head of School
Jennifer C. Roig M.Ed
A leader and true visionary in the field of Special Education, Mrs. Jennifer Roig founded The Roig Academy in the hopes of creating a learning environment where all children feel safe, respected, and loved. As Head of School, she understands that all children, whether pre-school or school age, should be allowed to think and reason using their own special gifts and talents.
As a partner in the education of children, Jennifer wants her students, parents, and educators to have a special responsibility and joy as they discover, recognize, and capitalize on the individual strengths and learning styles of all the children that enter the doors of the Roig Academy.
In 2000, she founded the Roig Academy After School Tutoring Program. The success of the first program lead to the expansion of a second center in Key Biscayne. In 2002, Mrs. Jennifer Roig launched The Roig Academy Day School for children who had experienced difficulty learning in a more crowded traditional classroom, where individualized attention was not easily achieved.
In 2006, her vision to meet the needs of the community continued to grow as she expanded her academy to include Early Childhood Education. The Roig Academy Preschool provides neighborhood children ages 2 through Kindergarten with a safe, loving, nurturing environment and a well rounded bi-lingual curriculum designed to prepare its students for the elementary school years.
Mrs. Roig holds an M.S. in Emotional Behavior Disorders and Learning Disabilities from the University of Miami, as well as a B.S. in Developmental Delays from Nova Southeastern University. Her continuing education studies include work with reading disorders, Neuroplasticity, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. A few of her certifications in educational programming include a multi-sensory sequential approach to teaching reading, Arrowsmith School Cognitive Program, Read Naturally, Irlen certified screener, CogMed, Conscious Discipline, and Handwriting Without Tears.
Her commitment to help those in need is demonstrated by her active participation within the community and involvement with several professional associations such as The Learning Disabilities Association of America, Council for Exceptional Children, International Dyslexia Association, Southern Early Childhood Association, Florida Association for Child Care Management, Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. Mrs. Roig formerly served as a board member for The Miami Children’s Museum Educational Task Force and has been a guest speaker at events such as Miami-Dade County Early Learning Coalition Literacy Conference.
Candidacy for the International Baccalaureate Programme
The PYP IB framework prepares students to become active, caring, lifelong learners who demonstrate respect for themselves and others and have the capacity to participate in the world around them. It focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both within and beyond the classroom.
The Roig Academy is a candidate school for the Primary Years Programme. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy – a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that The Roig Academy believes is important for our students.
AdvancED is the largest community of education professionals in the world. They are a non-partisant organization that conducts rigorous, on-site external reviews of Pre-K-12 schools and school systems to ensure that all learners realize their full potential. While their expertise is grounded in more than a hundred years of work in school accreditation, AdvancED is far from a typical accrediting agency. As missions and visions aligned with those of the The Roig Academy, it is fitting to belong to such a prestigious organization as AdvancEd.
The International Dyslexia Association’s mission is to create a future for every individual who struggles with dyslexia and other related reading differences that results in a richer, more robust life and the access to tools and resources when they need them.

National Association for Bilingual Education
The National Association for Bilingual Education is the only national professional organization devoted to representing bilingual/multilingual students and bilingual education professionals. NABE’s mission is to advocate for educational equity and excellence for bilingual/multilingual students in a global society. NABE places high value on native language, and respects cultural and linguistic diversity.
